The Coaster
Oceanside Transit Center to Santa Fe Depot in about an hour, along the water most of the way. Petco Park is a 12-minute walk from the depot, or one Trolley stop. Check the last northbound train before you go.

- Can you take the train from Oceanside to a Padres game?
- Yes. The Coaster runs from Oceanside Transit Center to Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego in about an hour. From Santa Fe Depot, Petco Park is roughly a 12-minute walk, or one stop on the Green Line Trolley to Gaslamp Quarter. Check the Coaster's return times before the game: on weekdays the last northbound trains leave in the early evening, and extra service is sometimes added for night games.
- How long does it take to drive from Oceanside to Petco Park?
- About 45 minutes with no traffic, and 75 to 90 minutes if you leave during the afternoon commute. I-5 south backs up from Del Mar through La Jolla on weekdays. For a 6:40 PM first pitch, leaving Oceanside by 4:30 PM is realistic.
- Where do you park at Petco Park?
- The Padres' own Tailgate Park and Padres Parkade are closest, and both fill early. Lots and garages around the East Village and the Gaslamp are usually cheaper a few blocks out. Prepaying through a parking app is normally less than driving in and hunting for a space.
- What's worth doing in Oceanside before or after a game?
- If it's a day game, the harbor and the pier are the easy call afterwards. For an evening game, eat in Oceanside before you go: downtown around Pier View Way and Tremont is a five-minute walk from the Transit Center, so you can park once and take the train.
