Privacy policy

OSIDE (osideca.com and the OSIDE apps for Android and iOS) is built to be useful without knowing who you are. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Using OSIDE

You don't need an account. We don't use advertising trackers.
If you tap “Use my location,” your location is rounded on your device to a roughly 2 km area and sent with that one request to find closer recommendations. It is never stored.
What you type into Ask OSIDE is processed to create your answer. We may keep anonymous records of which recommendations people acted on, without identity, to measure whether OSIDE is useful.
Community reports and confirmations are stored with a one-way hashed fingerprint to prevent duplicate confirmations. We don't store your IP address.

Sign-ups

If you join the waitlist or apply as a partner, we store the name, email, phone, business and notes you provide, and use them only to contact you about OSIDE. We send a confirmation email when you sign up. If you check the updates box, we add your email to the OSIDE updates list; every update includes an unsubscribe link.

Text messages (SMS)

Partner businesses who provide a mobile number and opt in may receive text messages from OSIDE confirming their live updates and responding to their requests. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.

We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties, except service providers (such as our SMS carrier) that deliver messages on our behalf.

Service providers

OSIDE runs on Vercel (hosting and storage), Anthropic (AI processing of requests and business updates), Twilio (text messaging), Resend (email), Stripe (payments; OSIDE never sees or stores card numbers), and OpenStreetMap Nominatim (turning a business address into map coordinates). They process data only to provide those services.

Delete your data

You can ask us to delete the information you gave OSIDE at any time, whether you used the website or the app. There is no account to close.

Email hello@osideca.com with the subject “Delete my OSIDE data”.
Tell us the email address or phone number you used, so we can find your records.
We confirm the request from that same email address or phone number, then delete your records within 30 days and let you know when it's done.

What we delete: your name, email, phone number, business details and notes, community reports you sent, and your email on the OSIDE updates list. A business page (OSIDE Card) and its posts are removed too.

What we keep: payment records that Stripe and tax law require us to keep (up to 7 years), and anonymous usage counts that can't be linked to you. Your approximate location is never stored, so there is nothing to delete.
